The Son of Cirque occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1680 metres in the southeastern head waters of Camp Creek, approximately 10.5 kilometres southeast of the junction of La Jaune Creek and the Sutlahine River.

The area is area is underlain by Eocene volcaniclastics of the Sloko Group and Carboniferous volcaniclastics of the Stikine Assemblage. In the region, Sloko Group volcanics, felsite and rhyolite, overlie mixed Lower Jurassic Laberge Group sediments. Several stocks of granitic to dioritic composition intrude the volcanics and sediments in a belt subparallel to the eastern margin of the Coast Plutonic Complex.

The area of the claims is underlain by a series of cream to buff coloured rhyolitic flows of the Sloko Group volcanics, and by associated grey felsite and a pinkish syenitic (monzonitic?) intrusion with a relatively wide chill margin. Quartz diorite of the Cretaceous Windy Table Complex intrudes the stratigraphy as does the Paleocene to Eocene Sloko-Hyder intrusions which are genetically related to the Sloko Group. These Sloko-Hyder rocks are described quartz phyric felsitic intrusions which are also in contact with the Windy Table intrusions.

Feldspar porphyry dikes cut all rocks on the property. The felsite is microcrystalline with small phenocrysts of glassy quartz and relics of feldspars. The intrusive ranges in composition from diorite to syenite over several metres, and generally is a fine to medium-grained pink rock, frequently containing phenocrysts of glassy quartz, orthoclase, and plagioclase feldspar. Locally, the contact between quartz-feldspar porphyry and sedimentary rocks are strongly carbonate-quartz altered and contain calcite-quartz stockworks veins hosting 1 to 3 per cent pyrite and less than 1 per cent sphalerite-arsenopyrite(?)-chalcopyrite. Float in the area contains veins of pyrite-chalcopyrite-tetrahedrite-sphalerite in a porphyry host. The Son of Cirque zone is associated with a contact between quartz-feldspar porphyry and sedimentary rocks.

In 2003, a 0.15 metre chip sample take from this zone (sample 277687) assayed 5.75 grams per tonne gold, 2.3 grams per tonne silver and greater than 1.00 per cent antimony (Assessment Report 27379A). Porphyry float samples 277679 and 277660 yielded up to 0.45 gram per tonne gold, 290 grams per tonne silver, 0.925 per cent copper, 0.180 per cent lead, 0.611 per cent zinc, and 0.557 per cent antimony (Baker, D. (2010-10-28): 2010 Technical Report on the Thorn Property (also Assessment Report 27379, page 27)). Follow-up sampling later in the 2003 program failed to reproduce this result.

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Cirque (MINFILE 104K 030) occurrence and a completed exploration history can be found there.
